This character shows up at the beginning of each request. Weird thing is – I am using MAMP for my dev – no error. When I put it up to my CENTOS staging server this is when the error comes.

The reason you’re not getting any responses here is that you haven’t given enough information. Can you cut your code down to the simplest example that shows this behaviour? Post that here and we might be able to help you. Right now we’ve got absolutely nothing to go on.
